Lunchbox Superfoods

We all know that healthy eating is an important part of our overall health. But for school-age children, it’s especially important to fuel up with a nutritious breakfast and lunch every day. Children who eat well perform better in school, feel more energetic, and are able to concentrate better.

A study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found that more than 40% of the packed lunches that children bring from home are often missing the vegetables and other healthy items recommended by dietary guidelines.

Convincing children to eat healthy foods isn’t always easy. Luckily, some of our most nutrition-packed superfoods are also delicious. Pack these 8 superfoods into your children’s lunches whenever possible to boost their brain function and help them do their best in school:

  • Berries
  • Avocados
  • Eggs
  • Vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Nuts
  • Nonfat Greek yogurt
  • Beans

All of these foods help our brains function better, meaning your children may bring home better grades and retain more of what they learn.
