Redefining healthy: Beyond kale & carrot sticks

Wrestling with your brother. Hanging out with friends. Listening to music. Snuggling with the kids. We believe healthy is about more than keeping our bodies in good working order. It’s about being human and living fulfilling lives. It’s all part of our This is Healthy conversation. How do you define healthy?

“This campaign invites people to think of healthy beyond just carrot sticks and gym workouts,” says Diana Birkett Rakow, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Public Affairs at Kaiser Permanente Washington. “It’s true to who we are, grounded in our mission of improving lives and helping you do what is important to you to live a full and healthy life.

“For me, that includes running after a toddler. For others, healthy means time with family and friends, reading a great book or enjoying a summer sunset. We want everyone to be able to live their best life and we’re there to take care of you no matter what life brings.”

Expanding the definition of This Is Healthy

By expanding upon the notion of what contributes to our well-being and good health, we’re inviting everyone to join the conversation and share their own stories on social media with the hashtag after joy not perfection

Let us know how you enjoy your life by tagging your post #ThisIsHealthy on Twitter and Instagram, and posting your #ThisIsHealthy moment on the Kaiser Permanente Washington Facebook Wall. We will feature the selected posts in our campaign.
