Thriving Schools: The education – health connection

At Kaiser Permanente Washington, we’re committed to creating communities where people can be healthy in all the places they live, learn, work, and play. This is especially important in schools, where better health boosts educational success and educational success leads to better lifelong health, employment, earning potential, and self-confidence.

One in 5 Kaiser Permanente Washington members spend most of their time on a school campus. As part of our support for members and communities, we’ve introduced Thriving Schools, our all-in engagement to improve health for students, staff, and teachers. Our vision is that every community can count on their school as a champion for good health that enables great learning. This month we’re spotlighting 3 of our efforts: our Educational Theatre Program’s creative approach to combating bullying, the value of school-based health centers, and our investment in school employee well-being. We’re also helping bring awareness to the importance of school attendance for Washington students.
